Birth doula

She helps you prepare your birth plan, communicate more effectively with your care provider, works with you and your partner prepare for roles and relaxation for the big day. She may labor with you at home for as long as you wish or meet you directly at your birth center or hospital. Your doula is there for every contraction and her sole responsibility is mother and partner’s emotional well-being and support.

Pricing is based on the experience level of the doula:
Graduate*, Advanced Apprentice, Certified Staff Doulas

All MotherMe Certified Doulas have completed an extensive classroom curriculum based solidly on evidence-based practice in pregnancy, birth, postpartum and breastfeeding support. They have completed classroom assignments, are avid readers of current up to date research. They complete the Texas State Department of Health Breastfeeding Educator program at least every 5 years. Regular continuing education Roundtables and events are attended by all our staff.

Our doulas regularly attend portions of Lamaze Healthy Birth Classes to keep up to date on the most current information and to keep our staff unified in our practice style. They attend numerous births whether medicated, un-medicated or cesarean in hospitals, birthing centers and homes. Each doula is regularly evaluated by clients, OBs, nurses and midwives with outstanding reviews.

Our doulas abide by a strict code of ethics and standards of practice.

To choose your precise needs we have distinct packages for First Time Mothers, Mothers wishing for a VBAC (vaginal birth after cesarean), the Experienced Mother (she has given birth previously but is a new MotherMe Doula Client), Repeat MotherMe Doula Clients, Birth Only and Medicaid Recipients.

First Time Mother/VBAC/Experienced Mom/Repeat Clients
  • Admission to our “Choices for Your Birth” session

  • Up to three prenatal meetings with your doula – She helps you prepare your birth plan, communicate more effectively with your care provider, works with you and your partner prepare for roles and relaxation for the big day.

  • 1st meeting: getting to know you-between you and the doula you have chosen. Sharing of your health history, what you want to learn, maintaining optimal health, your hopes and dreams for this birth, your concerns. If this is not your first baby, we will discuss your previous birth experiences.

  • 2nd meeting: an appointment with your care provider (OB or Midwife)

  • 3rd meeting: we will review your favorite coping methods discuss what labor looks, feels and sounds like, to when to go to your chosen birth location; dealing with hospital protocols. Preparing for the moments after birth, breastfeeding, parenting once at home with your baby.

  • These meetings take anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours depending upon your questions and needs. We want you to feel as confident and as well informed as possible.

  • FREE access to THE WHOLE SHABANG! Lamaze Healthy Birth Class.

  • Classes fill quickly – please register early!

  • Unlimited email, phone, text support from your doula

  • Attendance at your birth

  • We are available for you from the time you are having good, strong contractions until you have birthed your baby-depending upon where you live and/or your personal situation. Your doula may labor with you at home for as long as you wish or meet you directly at your birth center or hospital. Your doula is there for every contraction and her sole responsibility is mother and partner’s emotional well-being and support.

  • A postpartum follow up visit within a week of your baby’s birth, in order to ensure you are healing, weathering the transition into parenthood comfortably, and that breastfeeding is going well-we can provide resources when necessary

  • Phone and email support is available to you according to your needs-you will arrange with your doula when it is a good time for both of you to communicate

  • An invitation to our Life After Birth: Mom’s Cafe MotherMe pregnant and new parents enjoy meeting with other members of their community to share experiences, listen to birth stories, and form friendships. Including An hour with our pelvic floor specialist who helps you learn tips and tricks to safely get back into your active life at a pace that also protects your future pelvic health.

Medicaid Support –

This package is discounted for Medicaid recipients. It includes prenatal phone and email support during business hours, access to our online classes, and unlimited birth support during active labor through the birth and up to two hours postpartum. Access to Life After Birth: Mom’s Cafe is included. Any further prenatal or postpartum visits are billed at $125.

Birth Only Support –

Occasionally, a mother/couple will only be interested in hiring a doula for labor support, without the prenatal or postpartum contact. Prenatal or postpartum visits may be added as Antepartum & Postpartum Doula services.
