How Are They Trained?

All MotherMe Certified Doulas have completed an extensive classroom curriculum based solidly on evidence-based practice in pregnancy, birth, postpartum and breastfeeding support. They have completed classroom assignments, are avid readers of current up to date research. Certification is not just from attending a 2-day workshop as some organizations offer. Our certified doulas have earned this designation by working their craft, being required to serve many families through a strict code of ethics and standard of practice and doing so until they achieve a wide range of experience in observations, working in pairs and solo practice. Our doulas complete the Texas State Department of Health Breastfeeding Educator program at least every 5 years. Quarterly continuing education Roundtables and events are attended by all our staff as well as others who have trained through our organization. Our doulas regularly attend portions of Lamaze Healthy Birth Classes to keep up to date on the most current information and to keep our staff unified in our practice style. They attend numerous births whether medicated, un-medicated or cesarean in hospitals, birthing centers and homes. Each doula is regularly evaluated by clients, OBs, nurses and midwives with outstanding reviews. We proudly treasure our sterling reputation in the birth community.
